Well, well, well… look what the cat dragged back onto the tracks.
After a long (and frankly, much-needed) pit stop, The Wayne Train is firing up the engine, polishing the brass, and getting ready to steam ahead full throttle. If you’ve been wondering where we’ve been—consider this your official update: The Wayne Train was never derailed, just refueled. And now, it’s back and better than ever.
Let’s call this the Grand Reopening.
First things first: you’ll notice a brand-new design right here on the site. Cleaner, bolder, and built to carry more cargo. Think of it like upgrading from an old coal-burner to a sleek new express model—still carrying that classic soul, but with a little more horsepower under the hood. I’ve always believed a good story deserves a good layout, and this redesign is about making your ride through these pages smoother, sharper, and a little more fun.
If you’ve been around since the early days, you’ll remember that The Wayne Train started as a blend of storytelling, exploration, and a deep-rooted love for people, places, and the old ways that still whisper through the hills. That mission hasn’t changed. But the method has.
We’re bringing new sections onboard—starting with Echoes of Appalachia, a weekly feature diving deep into the heart of Appalachian history, culture, and tradition. Whether it’s an old tale passed down through generations, a forgotten figure who deserves the spotlight, or just a slice of small-town life worth savoring, you’ll find it here.
And yes, there’ll be plenty more coming:
* Photographic journeys through backroads and hidden hollers
* First-person essays on life, aging boldly, and chasing that second act
* Travel tales with a twist of grit and wit
* And maybe even a few videos hopping aboard the train (stay tuned for that)
You might say The Wayne Train is moving from a local line to a national route—still rooted in storytelling and authenticity, but expanding its reach, one mile marker at a time.
If you’re new here, welcome aboard. If you’ve been waiting patiently, thank you. Your ticket’s still good, and the best views are ahead.
The next few weeks will bring fresh stories, updated archives, and a couple of surprises I’m keeping close to the vest for now. My goal? To make this the most enjoyable ride on the internet for folks who still believe in the power of good writing, honest reflection, and stories that matter.
So here’s your boarding call:
The Wayne Train is back on the tracks. All aboard for the next chapter.
